As Trustees of The Butterfield Centre, we are committed to overseeing and guiding this vital charity that serves our local community. Our role involves ensuring that the Centre continues to fulfil its purpose of supporting independent living through its various services.
We are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the charity, making key decision about our services such as meals on wheels, domestic help, room hire, the community garden, and our community pantry initiative. we regularly review the Centre’s performance and impact to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our community effectively.
Financial oversight is a crucial part of our role. We carefully manage the charity’s income and expenditure, ensuring financial stability and sustainability across all our operations. This includes approving budgets and monitoring financial performance to maintain the Centre’s fiscal health.
As Trustees, we ensure The Butterfield Centre operates within all legal and regulatory frameworks. we comply with charity law and Charity Commission requirements, implementing proper policies and procedures, particularly for safeguarding the vulnerable adults who use our services.
While we’re not involved in day-to-day operations, we do monitor the quality and effectiveness of our services. We make decisions on resource allocation and service priorities to ensure the Centre continues to provide valuable support to our community.
We also act as ambassadors for The Butterfield Centre, promoting our services within the local area, building relationships with potential partners and supporters, and advocating for the needs of the elderly and vulnerable adults we serve.
By fulfilling these responsibilities, we aim to ensure that the Butterfield Centre continues to be a cornerstone of support for independent living in our community, adapting and growing to meet evolving needs while staying true to our charitable purpose.
